Political analyst Alexander Manasyan said that one should not
overestimate or underestimate the resolution on the so-called "occupied
territories" submitted by Azerbaijan to the UN General Assembly.
Azerbaijan has drafted such a package, which is acceptable for
international institutions, Manasyan told a press conference in
Yerevan.
He believes that Armenia can draft a more influential resolution,
which will be acceptable almost for everybody.
Manasyan noted that Armenia can offer the following variant for the
conflict resolution: the parties should liberate the territories,
which do not belong to them under the international law. "Karabakh's
recognition by Azerbaijan is a political act, but not a legal one.
>From the legal point of view, Azerbaijan is an occupant, but not
Armenia, as, under the Treaty of Kars, Nakhichevan does not belong to
Azerbaijan. Consequently, if we offer a relevant resolution, Azerbaijan
will be in a rather complicate situation," concluded Manasyan.
