Events on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide
are taking place in Salonika, Greece. The events have been organized
with the participation of the Armenian community and Armenian Embassy
in Greece.
A ceremony in commemoration of Armenian Genocide victims was took
place in New Izmir. Representatives of the Armenian community, local
government officials, politicians, spiritual leaders, and journalists
attended the ceremony.
A major event was held at the Attikon hall on April 17. Professor
Theofanis Malkidis explained the causes and consequences of the
Armenian Genocide. Armenian Ambassador to Greece stressed the
importance of recognizing and denouncing the Armenian Genocide for
preventing further crimes against humanity.
