Moscow. - Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) welcomes the initiative
of the head of Russian Ministry of Interior Rashid Nurgaliyev to
strengthen the law enforcement agencies in combating extremism
in Russia.
"This is a crucial problem for Russian society. Almost every case of
crime of ethnic hatred character is committed by the "hands" of youth
but, unfortunately, the radical youth is only the top of the iceberg,
"bargaining chip" in the game of professional puppeteers," said the
Vice President of UAR in Youth Affairs Levon Mukanyan.
According to him, if the employees of the newly formed police forces
"work in the same way as the former militia (dealing only with
committed crimes, covering the extremists and nationalists, sharing
their views, dividing Russian citizens), the final result will not
be effective."
"We need to chop off the head of octopus, instead of constantly
fighting with his tentacles," said Mukanyan.
