IRAN TO PROVIDE $2 MILLION TO ARMENIA AS GRANT FOR INSTALLING GAS FACILITIES IN BORDER AREAS

YEREVAN
Armenian government approved Thursday the signing of a memorandum
with Iran.
"Under the memorandum, Iran will provide $2 million to Armenia as grant
for installation of gas-supplying facilities on areas near Armenia's
border with Iran," Armenian Energy and Natural Resources Minister
Armen Movsisyan said Thursday at the government's regular meeting.
According to official reports, Armenia had 618139 gas consumers in
early August 2011.
ArmRosgasprom is the sole importer and distributer of Russian natural
gas in Armenia.
The company was established in 1997. Its shareholders are Gazprom
and Armenian government.
