OBAMA WILL TRY TO RECONCILE ARMENIA AND TURKEY BEFORE ELECTIONS

BAKU. - Washington suspects that Baku artificially delays the process
of regional reconciliation between Armenia and Turkey, initiated by
U.S. President Barack Obama in 2009.

An official source from Washington, D.C., told Turan agency that the
process was frozen upon Azerbaijan's request and it seems that Baku
    delays it artificially.

"As the election campaign draws nearer, the [U.S.] Administration
will put even more efforts into reconciliation of Armenia and Turkey,"
    said the source.

Commenting on the current stage of Karabakh conflict settlement talks,
the source said that Azerbaijan looses a major chance for settlement.

Another important fact is the full coincidence of views of Russia
and the West on the issue.

"Both administrations declared Karabakh conflict a priority for this
summer," said the source pointing to statement of Washington and
Moscow on the eve of Kazan meeting.

Another important detail the source mentioned is low public interest
both in Azerbaijan and Armenia towards negotiated principles.

"This suggests that people are not only ready for peace but also
nurture it. The door is not closed yet. However, in Baku and Yerevan
politicians must understand that we are already at the last stage
and attempts of return might throw everybody into abyss," concluded
    the source.
