HIGHEST DIVORCE RATE IN YEREVAN AND LORI MARZ

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of Population Census and Demography Division
of the Armenian National Statistical Service, Karine Kuyumjyan,
stated today that Yerevan and Lori marz rank first by divorce rate.
Addressing a press conference in Yerevan today, Karine Kuyumjyan
said that the divorce rate in the republic (1 pro mille or 1 case
per 1000 persons) is highest in Yerevan (1.5 pro mille) and Lori
(1.3 pro mille), Mediamax reports.
The head of Population Census and Demography Division also informed
that the divorce rate increased by 6.9% in the first half of 2011
against the same period of 2010: 1575 divorces are registered this
year against 1474 of the previous year.
"Of course, the divorce rate growth needs to be studied in different
regions. But I think that 1 case per 1000 persons doesn't give ground
for worry", said Karine Kuyumjyan.
