A cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan.
To begin with, the Premier advised that a message had been received
from the World Bank's regional director regarding bilateral cooperation
and Armenia's borrowing opportunities for the period 2011-2014.
In an effort to further improve the business environment, the
government invalidated some paragraphs of the order applicable
to the licensing of wildlife management activities concerning the
submittal of legal and natural person by-laws and/or copies of State
registration certificates.
Amending a previous decree, the cabinet shifted the post-graduate
and continued study component from the responsibility of Healthcare
Ministry's National Healthcare Institute after Avdalbekyan CJSC
to that of the State Medical University after M. Heratsi SNCO. The
amendment is supposed to help the University speed up the process of
international certification.
To promote investment programs in Yerevan city in 2011-2014, the
meeting passed a decree referred to as "On allocation of a tender-free
development site."
A hotel complex consisting of reception and conference halls, a
recreational lounge, a gym hall, a restaurant and a cafe corresponding
to best international standards (of at least 4-star branding) will
be built on a site next to Republic Square underground station. The
project allows for all necessary urban development, volumetric -
planning and architectural requirements to provide for micro-sphere
integrity.
The government next approved a methodology for the monitoring of
polluted lands in Armenia implying that a nationwide soil sample-taking
network and a properly designed legal framework for the conduct of
monitoring activities will be up to that effect, including a procedure
to be followed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in evacuating
the affected population.
The meeting went on to specify the requirements applicable to the
areas assigned for gambling and bookmaking activities.
The government backed the proposal on signing the 13th amendment
protocol relating to the letter-agreement on cooperation in the
field of drug control and law enforcement between the governments
of Armenia and the United States which implies that USD 2.314.611
will be made available for implementation of new regulatory and
enforcement projects.
The meeting approved a bill on amendments to the law on institution
of fines and penalties for environmental offences in an effort to
streamline the rules applicable to environmental damage-related
compensation activities.
A set of amendments to the law on taxes and 3 other legal acts was
endorsed at today's cabinet sitting.
The mentioned bills and the government's findings will be submitted
to the National Assembly in the manner established by law.
