YEREVAN.- Armenian police will conduct an internal investigation
in connection with the incident at police station where law
enforcers hampered work of the lawyers of the opposition activists,
representative of police Ashot Aharonyan told Armenian News - NEWS.am.
Two days ago Attorney General Aghvan Hovsepyan appealed to the Chief
of Police Alik Sargsyan asking about internal investigation and
verification of press reports.
Hovsepyan also presented a scanned article describing the incident
published by the Armenian Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper.
Earlier, lawyers said police hampered their work. Law enforcers picked
the phone of Stepan Voskanyan and hit Vahe Hovsepyan.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, policemen detained seven
opposition activists on August 9. On August 12, 2011, Kentron and
Nork-Marash administrative court of general jurisdiction ruled against
Tigran Arakelyan, Sargis Karapetyan and Artak Gevorgyan sentencing
them to two months detention, yet the other activists were released
on recognizance.
