'Iran concerned over Azerbaijan-Turkey fraternal ties'
Fri 19 August 2011 05:32 GMT | 1:32 Local Time
Our organization has displayed a tough stance against all sorts of
anti-propaganda against Azerbaijan and Turkey from its early days.
The remarks came from Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Youth
Friendship Society Kadir Yildiz.
'Iran can not tolerate Azerbaijan's independence. Iran is particularly
worried over fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Iran does
not want to see Azerbaijan as a Turkic state, but as a religious state
and people to have not national, but radical religious views,' Yildiz
noted.
Yildiz said Iran's support for Armenia and Armenians are due to the
factors of Turkism and the fact that Azerbaijan is growing stronger.
'Nearly 35 million Turks live in Iran at the moment. They have no
schools, newspapers and magazines in their own language while 200,000
Armenians have their own school, newspapers and magazines. Iran fears
possibility that Azerbaijani Turks may unite with North Azerbaijan.
Iran is seriously concerned over the fact that Azerbaijan is growing
stronger day by day. It seeks to hinder Azerbaijan's development. But
Iran will fail to achieve anything,' Yildiz noted.
