(Noyan Tapan - 20.08.2011) Today another souvenir sheet dedicated to
5-th Pan-Armenian games was cancelled and introduced into circulation.
The first one dedicated to the first Pan-Armenian games was put into
circulation in 1999. This tradition was continuous for each of
Pan-Armenian Games in 2001, 2003 and 2007 as well.
As `Haypost' CJSC acting CEO Haik Avagyan pointed out in his official
opening ceremony speech, "Unity through Sport": this is the slogan of
these Games. Indeed, Pan-Armenian Games have already proved they are
irreplaceable when it comes to Armenian unity. These games became
unique forums for the world spread Armenian communities' youth'.
The ceremony was attended by RA Minister of Transport and
Communication Manuk Vardanyan, representatives of the World Committee
of the 5-th Pan-Armenian Games, `Haypost' CJSC, famous sportsmen and
representatives of the Union of the Armenian Philatelists. Minister
Manuk Vardanyan emphasized the importance of the stamps' issue and
stated that they are not only historical and material values, but also
unique encyclopedia of famous people, events, culture and nature. The
minister expressed his gratitude to the `Haypost' CJSC management and
Council members for putting the stamp into circulation.
The Pan-Armenian Games Executive Committee member Alfred Havan pointed
out that `achievements in sports are often forgotten, but stamps will
be preserved and remembered for centuries'.
European record holder Robert Emmiyan and the vice-president of the
Union of the Armenian Philatelists Yuri Kupalyan also hold speeches.
It is important to note that `Haypost' CJSC attaches great importance
to the sports theme. Every year `Haypost' CJSC cancels sport stamps
and souvenir sheets such as the series of Olympic champions and
international Olympiads.
Armenian sport stamps have already gained great popularity and respect
