PRELIMINARY CALCULATIONS SUGGEST AROUND 37,000 FIRST GRADERS TO GO TO SCHOOL THIS YEAR IN ARMENIA

1,400 comprehensive schools will open for the new school year on
the first day of September, 1,293 of them are basic and 107 senior,
a Panorama.am correspondent was informed by the Education Ministry.
Birth rate chart makes it possible to say that around 37,039 first
graders will go to school this school year, and the total number
of students in 2011-12 school year can be revealed after September
10 only.
Out of 107 senior schools, 39 are in Yerevan, 13 in Shirak, 6 in
Armavir, 7 in Gegharkunik, 4 in Tavush, 11 in Kotayak and 11 in Lori,
5 in Ararat and 5 in Syunik, 3 in Aragatsotn and 3 in Vayots Dzor.
Besides, there are 59 private schools in Armenia.
