CHINA'S HUGE DOMESTIC MARKET TO BE OPEN FOR ARMENIAN COMPANIES

China's huge domestic market will be open for Armenian companies, Chen
Deming, China's commerce minister, said Wednesday as met with Armen
Gevorgyan, Armenian territorial administration minister, in Beijing.
"China is ready to promote trade between the two countries," the
Armenian territorial administration ministry's press office quoted
Deming as saying.
The Chinese commerce minister said that his country is regularly holds
commercial, economic and tourist exhibitions to enhance availability
of China's market to foreign companies.
Chinese and Armenian ministers placed on record that Armenian-Chinese
trade turnover doubled in 2010, compared with the previous year. They
stressed that both exports and imports grew and that ties between
the two countries became closer in recent years.
The ministers, outlining prospects for development of trade and
economic relations, put special emphasis on Armenian processing
companies' exports to China.
They singled out tourism, energy, mining, telecommunications,
technologies and infrastructure development as promising areas for
cooperation.
The National Statistical Service of Armenia says Armenia-China trade
turnover grew 44.4% in 2010 to $436.7 million.
According to the statistical reports, Armenia's exports to China
totaled $30.8 million (3.8% of Armenia's total export) in 2010 after
growing 72.6%, compared with the previous year.
China-made imports in Armenia grew 42.6% to $405.8 million. As a whole,
goods brought to Armenia from China's territory totaled $224.1 million
(71.6% year-on-year growth) and made up 7.6% of Armenia's total import
in 2010.
