No Georgian will ever enter the Armenian Church.
According to Armenian mass media, on 19 August two young men in
a drunken state entered 'the Armenian church Surb Echmiadzin in
the region of Avlabar (Georgia), where they behaved impudently and
without respect".
"I don't know what really happened there, but I have to note that
there are no Armenian churches at all in Georgia. A few centuries ago
Armenian misappropriated Georgian churches", 1news.az reports citing
Georgian historian, professor of the Sukhumi state university Guram
Markhuliya. He commented on the information in Armenian mass media
which stated that an act of vandalism occurred in Georgia against
Armenian church".
"I assure you that no Georgian will ever enter the Armenian Church.
First, Armenians do not pray in churches, for them it is a place
for meetings and conversations. For then, a church is a place for
communication, rather than prayers. Therefore, it seems that drunken
Armenians entered the indicated church, where they committed those
acts of vandalism", he said.
According to the Georgian historian, by spreading such information,
Armenians are trying to draw attention to themselves and show the
world community that Georgians allegedly behave improperly and
discriminate Armenians.
"The more they speak against Georgia, the more they get money from
abroad. It is a definite order. Such information is often posted
on Armenian websites. Georgian public does not pay attention to it
anymore", Guram Markhuliya said.
