Yerevan/Mediamax/. Orientalist Suren Manukyan, Deputy Director of the
Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, said today that "the repetition of
the Libyan scenario in Syria will prove disastrous for the country's
Armenian community".
Suren Manukyan said that Syrian Armenians back current President
Bashar Assad and the repetition of the Libyan experience will have
negative consequences for the Armenians, Mediamax reports.
According to him, Armenians support Assad as they see him as a
guarantor for their security. Suren Manukyan thinks that in case of
intrusion of external forces, the Armenian community of Syria will
suffer the same fate as the Iraqi Armenians.
Meanwhile, he noted that international intrusion into Syria is unlikely
to happen in the foreseeable future.
