28% GROWTH IN DRUG OUTPUT IN ARMENIA OVER PAST DECADE

Armenia's population has the right to use high-quality drugs, Ara
Babloyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity
and Childhood, Parliament of Armenia, stated at a presentation of an
industrial document drafted by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
"We want to produce drugs that would meet international standards,
and it is important that they be exported," Babloyan said.
He reported 28% growth in drug output over the past ten years.
"We have dozens of drug companies in Armenia. Some of them produce
starting materials as well. A pharmacy school is operating at Yerevan
State Medical University. We attach high importance to this, and the
government should assist the development of Armenia's pharmaceutical
industry," Babloyan said.
