"Positive developments were registered in country's economy this year,"
Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan said today.
"We can say that it was a successful year from the economic point of
view," the Minister said, noting that 5% GDP growth is expected by
the end of the year.
"We provide growth thanks to the real sector, first of all the
industry," the Minister said. "I think 12-13 percent industrial
growth will be registered this year. Besides, 20-27 percent growth
is expected in the sphere of export. The volume of investments has
also grown, and the growth of tourism reached 13%," the Minister said.
The Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan and UN Resident
Coordinator in Armenia Dafina Gercheva signed a memorandum of
understanding today.
Under the document the UNDP will provide assistance in the training
of the staff of the Economy Ministry.
The employees of the Ministry will be trained in European structures
Tigran Davtyan said stressing that the Ministry needs skilled employees
to be engaged in talks and cooperation with international agencies.
UN Resident Coordinator Dafina Gercheva said "capacity development is
a process that never ends. To implement proper reforms, it's necessary
to have strong resources and we'll start the implementation of the
program after the signing of this memorandum. I hope this will be
exemplary for the other Ministries," she underscored.
