Russian envoy to NATO demands proof of Europe missile shield safety
December 4, 2011 - 17:10 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian envoy to NATO Dmitry Rogozin urged the U.S.
to produce documentary proof that NATO missile shield is not directed
against Russia.
The Kremlin says the U.S. expanding anti-missile system in Europe is a
potential threat to the Russian nuclear arsenal, while Washington is
trying to convince Moscow that the system poses no threat to Russia,
that it is needed to protect against attack from "rogue states" such
as Iran.
`We believe Washington has to produce relevant tactical and technical
specifications, allow the use of telemetric equipment during tests and
stipulate the data observed in a legally binding document. Only then
will we believe in Washington's statements,' RIA Novosti quoted
Rogozin as saying.
