ARMENIA MUST BE READY FOR ANY DEVELOPMENTS IN IRAN - MP

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tensions around Iran's nuclear program led all
interested parties to a stalemate, according to Heritage parliamentary
    group leader.

As Stepan Safaryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, "with Iran refusing
to halt nuclear programs on one hand and international community's
inability to settle the issue through either political or military
means on another, no solution at this point seems feasible."

"The development of events is mostly dependent on the outcome of the
crisis in Syria. More accurate forecast on the fate of Iran would be
possible were Assad regime to fall," the politician remarked.

Dwelling on the way current events may impact Armenia, Safaryan noted,
"relations with Iran are an important component of the country's
national security, helping Yerevan neutralize many regional threats
it's facing. Iran's coming under an attack might result in formation
of a "vacuum" in Armenia's security policy."

"As an interested party in the Iranian issue, Armenia must raise its
voice to stress the unacceptability of a war and the necessity of a
peaceful settlement of the problem," Safaryan said.

In conclusion, the politician urged Armenia to closely follow the
developments in Iran, being ready for any scenarios, "to preserve
the semi-balanced situation it its foreign policy."
