Baku-APA. The International Atomic Energy Agency evaluates the proposal
made by Armenia on installation of 6 new seismic stations near Metsamor
Nuclear Power Plant, said representative of the International Atomic
Energy Agency (IAEA) for Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine and Moldova
Andrei Chupov at the meeting with Armenian Emergency Minister Armen
    Yeritsyan, APA reports.

the sides came to an agreement on exchanging active information between
Emergency Ministry's Center for Crisis Management and "Gosatomnadzor".

Specialists believe the existing Armenian NPP, located in the townof
Metsamor, near the Turkish border, will remain operational until
2016. It generates 40-50% of Armenia's electricity. Armenia is
currently discussing the issue of constructing a new nuclear power
plant of either 1,000 MW, with a projected cost of $5-6 billion. The
new NPP is expected to be commissioned in 2017.
