ARMENIA, LEBANON AGREE BILATERAL TRADE MEASURES

BEIRUT: Armenia and Lebanon agreed to take joint measures to promote
bilateral trade, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said Friday at
a joint press conference with his visiting Lebanese counterpart
President Michel Sleiman.
The Armenian news agency ARKA quoted Sargsyan as saying: ~SToday,
Lebanon is the fifth largest investor in Armenia. Nevertheless,
we are still far from satisfying indicators.~T
According to Sargsyan, Lebanon and Armenia had already signed a
great number of cooperation agreements, but the president pointed out
that ~Stoday we have added seven more, many of which are agreements
governing economic cooperation.~T
According to official statistics, the volume of Lebanese investments
in Armenia in January-September 2011 amounted to nearly $7.5 million,
falling by 29 percent from the same period last year. In a separate
meeting, Armenian Economy Minister Tigran
Davtyan discussed bilateral economic relations with Lebanon~Rs Industry
Minister Vrej Sabounjian and Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud.
