US SENATOR CASEY CALLS ON AZERBAIJAN AND ARMENIA TO CONTINUE TO WORK TO RESOLVE NK CONFLICT IN PEACEFUL MANNER

Washington. Isabel Levine - APA. US Senator Robert P. Casey, a member
of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, calls on Azerbaijan
and Armenia to continue to work to resolve their differences in a
peaceful manner.
APA's correspondent reports that, on December 10th, the Senator sent
a letter to the Azeri Diaspora members, assuring them to have their
concerns in mind should legislation regarding US aids to Azerbaijan
come before the Senate for consideration.
"The US has an interest in promoting stability throughout the South
Caucasus, and supports democratic governance and human rights in
Azerbaijan and its neighbors. To this end, Azerbaijan has received
more than $752 million in US aid since its independence, and the
US and Azerbaijan have held annual bilateral security talks since
1996. I have consistently supported assistance to Azerbaijan through
the annual appropriations process", noted the Senator.
