ARMENIAN PARTY HERITAGE DEMANDS RESIGNATION OF SYUNIK GOVERNOR

Opposition Armenian party Heritage has demanded the resignation
of Syunik Governor Suren Khachatryan over a scandal in which he is
believed to have physically assaulted an Armenian businesswoman.
In a statement released late on Wednesday the party said the judicial
bodies were biased by dropping the criminal case filed against Suren
Khachatryan.
Further the statement said that the actions of the Syunik governor
were not decent of a man.
"The Heritage party considers the deed by Suren Khachatryan indecent of
a man, not to mention of the position he holds," reads the statement.
It also said that though the criminal case against Khachatryan has been
dropped, the party demands from authorities to give it a "political
evaluation which should entail some administrative consequences in
the form of dismissal".
