Turkey's military assistance to Georgia is being implemented within
the framework of NATO but it gives additional sources to Turkey in
Georgia, military expert Artsrun Hovhannissyan told press conference
today. He said the 1.7 million USD assistance is not of essential
significance but with such private steps Turkey is penetrating deeper
into the Georgian Armed Forces.
"Within the framework of NATO's membership, Georgia has selected Turkey
as its teacher. The role of our historic neighbor in Georgia is not
only assistance in getting arms but teaching of the armed forces
as well," Hovhannissyan said, adding that Turkish specialists are
participating in training and upgrading of Georgian military.
"Unfortunately, Georgia forgets that even within the framework of NATO
Turkey cannot be the best teacher. In NATO Turkey is not a "locomotive"
state and it cannot guide a new-comer," the military expert stressed.
