U.S. NEGOTIATING FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MILITARY BASE IN AZERBAIJAN

U.S. tries to build a military base in Azerbaijan and is currently
negotiating with the Azerbaijani authorities for that purpose, Polygon
Agency of Azerbaijan reports referring to its own sources. There are
no serious results yet.
The official Baku is well aware that the regional balance will be
broken if the base is built, and its relations with Russia and Iran
will become hostile. Therefore, Baku approaches the issue carefully,
but it does not reject USA's suggestion either. The source reports that
Baku has set three key demands to Washington: support in the Karabakh
conflict's resolution in favor of Azerbaijan, preliminary agreement on
creation of a base between Washington and Moscow, and suppression of
'international efforts' to bring 'Arab Spring' to Azerbaijan.
For its part, USA is not going to fulfill Azerbaijan's demands,
especially the first one, that may lead to problems for Washington.
