    ARF EXPECTS ANC'S SUPPORT?

The RA Electoral Code is not a sufficient precondition for holding
free and fair elections. This is what ARF-D MP Artsvik Minasyan warns
    before the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"I think the society, to a certain extent, is not sure that in 2012
Armenia will hold elections that the authorities say will be the best
and most democratic elections of the independent Armenia," Minasyan
said during a press conference today.

According to him, the social state of Armenian voters has made them
more vulnerable and controlled. "The societies that have had problems
like poverty haven't always been able to make the choice that will
    lead to efficiency."

Government official Hovhannes Sahakyan agreed, but consoled by saying
that "that is not only the case in Armenia".

However, Artsvik Minasyan says he is not too interested in the
"situation in other countries". What concerns him is the fact that
there are officially 1,200,000 poor people in Armenia, and that
"the 200,000 people became poor within the past two years."

The speakers made a smooth transition from the social sphere to the
political field and touched upon the dialogue between the Armenian
National Congress and the Republican Party of Armenia during the
    passing year.

"The RPA's expectations weren't met in the interior political field
after the ANC-coalition dialogue was put on hold," Hovhannes Sahakyan
explained and said "the party didn't receive the fruits that it had
    expected to receive".

The Republican hopes the ANC-coalition dialogue will continue in 2012.

However, the Dashnak MP is certain that there will no longer be a
need to touch upon the "failed dialogue". Instead, he suggested that
the ANC join the parliamentary opposition and make subjective demands
    in the electoral code.
