The clear picture of the voting of the bill criminalizing the denial
of the Armenian Genocide is not available yet but it is clear that the
bill passed with the overwhelming majority of votes, director of the
ARF Armenian Cause Office in Paris Hrach Varzhapetyan told Armenpress.
He said the bill will be presented for the ratification of the Senate
in January-February. "The Armenian community of France is very pleased
and happy for the adoption of the bill. We must continue our intensive
activity so that the Senate finally ratifies the bill criminalizing
the denial of the Armenian Genocide," Varzhapetyan said.
While the bill was being discussed at the National Assembly of
France, the Turkish community conducted a protest rally in front of
the building of the National Assembly. "France showed that contrary to
the political and economic pressures of Turkey it will not tolerate the
attempts of interfering into its domestic policy," Varzhapetyan noted.
He also stressed that they will continue meetings with the
representatives of the Senate, presenting their demands and facts
about the Armenian Genocide.
