NEW YEAR CHARITY AUCTION ORGANIZED BY AMERIA RAISES FUNDS FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER AND HAEMATOLOGICAL DISEASES

YEREVAN, December 26. / ARKA /. A New Year charity auction organized
by Ameria group of companies December 23 to sell the paintings of
famous Armenians to support children with cancer and hematological
diseases was success. The previous first auction held last year raised
19 million drams (about $50,000).
"Christmas and New Year have a special meaning, and it is assumed that
these days people should strive to do more good deeds, especially
for children who associate their hopes and dreams with grown ups,"
Ameriabank development director Tigran Jrbashyan told reporters.
He said the money raised last year helped six sick children to receive
treatment and get out of crisis.
The auctioned paintings this year were created by Levon Igityan,
Ara Ernjakian, Narek Sargsyan, Mikael Poghosyan, Yervand Erznkyan,
Azat Gasparyan, Levon Malkhasyan, Vardan Petrosyan, Karen Janibekyan
Hakob Zargaryan, Hayk Demoyan, Shushan Petrosyan, Gegham Grigoryan,
Andre, Aramo, Nune Yesayan, Vigen Stepanyan, Armen Khandikyan, Yervand
Manaryan, Hovhannes Chekijian, Ara Gevorgian, Edward Topchyan and
others. The auction was held with the great support of the National
Center for Aesthetics and Armenia Marriott Hotel.
Tigran Jrbashyan said all the proceeds raised from the auction will
be doubled by America group and transferred to 17 children who are
currently being treated and in dire need of financial assistance.
Director of the Yerevan National Center of Aesthetics, Levon Igityan
thanked all the participants saying that helping children is the
common cause of all the people. The highest price paid for a painting
reached 1 million drams (about $2,600).
