YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS: Armenia welcomes the referendum held
in South Sudan. The published preliminary results of the referendum,
which surely will not be essentially different from the final results,
confirmed one more time, that the self-determination is an inseparable
right of every nation, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan
told Armenpress commenting on the preliminary results of the referendum
held in South Sudan.
"Already 60 years, since the establishment of the UN, this choice
of the people of South Sudan is the freshest example of the victory
marsh of the right of self-determination, and a right way to solve the
existing problems that is absolutely welcomed by the international
community. We hope that by choosing the way of determining its own
destiny, through expression of its will, South Sudan will succeed in
the establishment and the accomplishment of an independent statehood,"
Nalbandyan said.
