ARMENIAN PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN TO VISIT UKRAINE IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2011

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 11, ARMENPRESS: The Armenian and Ukrainian Foreign
Affairs Ministers discussed a number of issues of bilateral interest,
Edward Nalbandyan stated at the press conference held after the
meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantyn Hryshchenko,
adding that during the meeting the positive dynamics registered in
Armenian-Ukrainian relations in 2010 was pointed out.
"It was noted that there is a bilateral wish and all the opportunities
to elevate the cooperation of our countries to a higher level,"
the Minister said. According to him, two documents have been signed
as a result of the meeting - the Armenian-Ukrainian Cooperation
Program for 2011-212 and the Memorandum on Cooperation between the
RA Foreign Ministry Diplomatic School and Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
Diplomatic Academy. The Foreign Ministers also discussed concrete
issues concerning the cooperation of the two countries within
international organizations.
The Armenian Foreign Minister said that regional issues were discussed
as well, particularly, on the situation created in South Caucasus.
Edward Nalbandyan noted that they thoroughly referred to the
commercial and industrial relations of the two countries and pointed
out the actuality of the actions planned within the framework of
the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation of the
two countries.
"There are 70 agreements signed between our states. We have come
to an agreement to sign a number of interstate and interregional
agreements," the Minister stressed, adding that Armenian President
Serzh Sargsyan's visit to Ukraine is scheduled for the first half
of 2011. "There is a wide field of cooperation for development of
relations of the two countries, in that regard we agreed to implement
regular consultations between the foreign political departments of
the two countries," Mr. Nalbandyan noted.
According to Foreign Affairs Minister Konstantyn Hryshchenko,
a friendly and trustful atmosphere has been developed between the
foreign political departments of the two countries, and its proof
is the third meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries
during the recent months.
"It is the first time during the last 20 years that I am in Armenia and
what I have seen in this period shows that the country is developing
in a trustful manner and the voice of Armenia sounds at international
level in an authoritative way," Konstantyn Hryshchenko stressed, adding
that the opinions the Ministers exchanged both on international and
bilateral relations, will serve for registering practical results both
in economic sphere and in missionary forums related to cooperation.
