"Armenia tries to take advantage of the opportunity"
Istanbul. Mayis Alizadeh - APA. "Armenia tries to get a political
benefit from everything," parliamentarian from Republican People's
Party (CHP), former Foreign Ministry undersecretary Onur Oymen
told APA's Turkey bureau while commenting on Armenian Foreign
Minister Edward Nalbandian's words "The issue of monument will tense
Turkey-Armenia relations."
The diplomat said art could not be made the tool for political
processes.
"The art must be assessed only with esthetic feelings. Armenia tries
to take advantage of the opportunity. The most important item said by
Nalbandian is - their position on Turkey has not changed. It was known
beforehand - the government should have been realistic while starting
the discussions. We see that the government does not know Armenia well
enough. Didn't they know Armenia's position while signing the protocols
and that it would not change? This is a mistake from the very beginning
and therefore it allows Armenia say so. We must establish our position
strongly and Turkey must underline firmly that it will not take a
step unless Azerbaijan's occupied territories are released. In this
respect the protocols must be withdrawn from the parliament. Why do
they keep the protocols in the parliament? Why doesn't the government
withdraw the protocols? Why don't they withdraw the protocols, while
the opposite side always expects concession from Turkey? No one in
Turkey mentions "Armenians" or "Armenia" while discussing the monument
in Kars. Why does Armenia want to get benefit from these disputes,"
he said.
