Official denies Armenian troops wounded Azeri soldier
Yerevan, 30 June: Spokesman for the Armenian Defence Ministry David
Karapetyan refuted today the statement by Azerbaijani Defence Ministry
that an Azeri soldier was wounded by Armenian Armed Forces in
[Azerbaijan's exclave] Naxcivan.
"The information doesn't correspond to reality. Armenian Armed Forces
strictly keep [comply with] the cease-fire regime, whereas the
attempts to aggravate the situation by violating the cease-fire have
become an everyday practice for Azerbaijan. For example, only on 29
June [on 29 June alone], Azerbaijan violated the cease-fire regime 29
times, 5 times by a sniper fire.
If an Azeri soldier was indeed wounded it could be the consequence of
careless use of arms or intolerance between the servicemen. If the
Azeri side has other facts it can appeal to relevant international
instances to conduct investigation," David Karapetyan stated.
