Iran again offers mediation for Karabakh settlement
July 2, 2011 - 12:59 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran supports resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict on the regional level and is ready to make an effort to that
end, head of the Iranian parliament said.
`We proposed that the conflict should be resolved peacefully and
through negotiations,' Ali Larijani told a press conference in Baku,
Azeri-Press Agency reported.
`The superpowers think about their interests only, and, instead of
solving the problems, they are playing for their benefit. The Minsk
Group, which continues its activity for many years, has not done
anything. In addressing this issue, we prefer regional efforts,' he
said, adding that deployment of peacekeeping forces would be efficient
if international institutions were independent from superpowers. `Now,
stationing peacekeepers would only deteriorate the situation,'
Larijani said.
