Armenia's Zvartnots airport handles 670,100 passengers in January -June 2011
YEREVAN, July 9, /ARKA/. Armenia's international Zvartnots airport
handled 670,100 passengers in the first six months of this year, up
from 647,900 from a year before, according to a statement, posted on
the official website of the government-affiliated Chief Civil
Aviation. Department.
It said some 309,500 people arrived in Armenia in Jan.-June through
the airport, up from 300,300 from a year earlier and 360,600 people
left it, up from 347,600 in the first six months of 2010. Also 2,425
metric tons of cargo arrived in Armenia through the country's air
gates, down from 2,493 from a year before. The airport handled a total
of 14,392 departures and arrivals, up from 4,279 Jan.-June 2010.
Armenia's second largest airport Shirak in Gyumri handled 298,300
passengers, up from 114,500 in the first six months of 2010. Also some
8.04 tons of cargo arrived in Armenia through it in the same time
span, the Chief Civil Aviation Department said. The airport handled
136 arrivals and departures, up from 96 from a year before.
Zvartnots and Shirak airports are run by American International
Airports in accordance with a concessional agreement signed for 30
years with Armenian government. American International Airports is
owned by an Argentinean Armenian businessman Eduardo Eurnekian. -0-
