SPEAKER OF ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT SUGGESTS FORMING ARMENIAN-UKRAINIAN CROSS-PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION

YEREVAN. - Ukraine Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Chairman Volodymyr
Lytvyn invited Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan
on an official visit to Ukraine.
Before official meetings, delegations headed by Lytvyn and Abrahamyan
paid tribute to victims of October 27, 1999 tragedy and laid flowers
at the monument, press service of the Armenian parliament informs

Afterwards the two speakers held a private conversation, where they
discussed the development of bilateral ties and issues of mutual
interest.
"I propose to form inter-parliamentary commission between Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine and National Assembly of Armenia on the basis of
parliamentary friendship groups. I think the parliaments of Armenia
and Ukraine will be able to promote robust cooperation between
the countries more effectively given this opportunity," said Hovik
Abrahamyan.
Volodymyr Lytvyn approved of the proposal. He commended the level
of political dialogue between the two countries, noting that there
is every reason for closer cooperation in various fields. He highly
appraised the official visit of Serzh Sargsyan to the Ukraine in
terms of bilateral relations.
