IN ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS BALL IS IN TURKEY'S COURT - US AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA NOMINEE

WASHINGTON. - In Armenian-Turkish relations the ball is in Turkey's
court, said US Ambassador to Armenia nominee John Heffern in his
testimony during the hearings in U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign
Relations.
"The Administration supports Armenia's courageous steps to begin a
process with Turkey to address their history, and to find a way to
move forward together in a shared future of security and prosperity,"
said Heffern.
He added that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear that
"the ball is in Turkey's court."
John Heffern stressed that if confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Armenia,
he plans to work closely with the U.S. Embassy in Ankara to "strengthen
mutual trust" between two sides.
