SAFRASTYAN: THE US PUBLIC DOES NOT DENY THE FACT OF GENOCIDE

The public of the United States admits that what happened in 1915 with
Armenians is genocide. Turkologist Ruben Safrastyan said speaking to
Armenpress that the circumstance that the ambassadorial nominee John
Heffern did not utter the word genocide is the result of the current
policy of the USA.
"Regretfully, Heffern did not utter the word "genocide" but it is
not his fault. Naturally the ambassador must continue the line of
the USA not to lose his office", Safrastyan said.
The Turkologist said the US public does not deny the fact of the
Genocide. In scientific, political circles many people recognize the
Armenian Genocide.
"I was in the United States and spoke with the representatives of the
scientific circles. It is clear like water that they admit the Armenian
Genocide. Besides, we have big number of supporters in the Senate. The
US Administration stemming from certain factors persists", Safrastyan
said. He expressed conviction that in near future the US will refuse
the wrong policy it has adopted as it first of all harms its image.
