KARABAKH ISSUE IS ONE OF KEY FOCUS OF MILLI MAJLIS - VICE-SPEAKER

Milli Majlis considers raising awareness of world public about the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict one of the major focus ofits activities.
The statement came from Vice-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament
Bahar Muradova at a press conference held to discuss outcomes of the
spring and extraordinary sessions of the parliament.
'Nagorno-Karabakh issue was widely discussed at the summer session
of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in Serbia on 4 to 11 July. We
brought up this issue discussion of MPs from 56 countries worldwide.
Our foreign colleagues realized the need to resolve this conflict and
the international community understands that the status quo existing
in the Karabakh problem should be changed,' Muradova said.
Vice-Speaker noted the importance of strengthening the work of the
Milli Majlis in this direction.
'We are also actively working with the parliamentary assemblies of
different countries to get these organizations adopt resolutions on
Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The
parliaments of some countries do not adopt a resolution on
Nagorno-Karabakh, fearing that these documents my have negative impact
on process of conflict resolution,' Muradova added.
Autumn or winter session of OSCE PA may adopt a resolution on
Nagorno-Karabakh.
