U.S. President Barack Obama underscored Washington's commitment to
achieve a framework agreement by the parties to the Karabakh conflict.

During the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov,
President Obama expressed gratitude for his efforts regarding the
    Karabakh peace process.

The sides discussed the issues referring to democracy and human rights
in Russia, the White House reports.

President Obama expressed his support for Russia's efforts to mediate
a political solution in Libya, emphasizing that the United States is
prepared to support negotiations that lead to a democratic transition
in Libya as long as Gaddafi steps aside.

They also discussed the challenge presented by Iran's failure to
live up to its obligations with regard to its nuclear program, the
role of the international community in preventing further violence
and pressing for political change in Syria and Yemen.

Sergey Lavrov had to present Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's
proposals on resolution of the Karabakh conflict. Earlier he conveyed
the proposals to Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders.
