BYURAKAN. - Issue of prolonging mandatory service term in Armenia is
not on current agenda, Armenian deputy MOD Davit Tonoyan told at the
meeting with `Baze' camp participants in Byurakan on Saturday.
`Army service terms are prolonged based on quantitative resources. We
have many young people who are well trained and are ready for any
situation to protect the state. Currently there is no need to prolong
military service,' deputy MOD told.
`Baze' camp is implemented by Armenian Youth Foundation with the
support of Armenian MOD. The camp is held in three stages. First stage
takes place in Byurakan with 700 young Armenians. Second stage will be
in Tsakhkadzor with 350 young participants from Armenia Diaspora,
Artsakh and Javakhk. The camp will be over in the Republic Square on
August 27 with a gala concert.
