"IRRESPECTIVE OF OUR CONFESSIONAL DIFFERENCES, WE SHOULD WORK TOGETHER AS
ONE NATION"
Said Aram I to the Armenian Catholic Archbishop
On Wednesday 20 July 2011, the newly consecrated Armenian Catholic
Archbishop, Raphael of Armenia, Georgia and Russia, and the Locum Tenens of
the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Archbishop Nourhan, met with His
Holiness Aram I to discuss cooperation between the Armenian Orthodox and
Armenian Catholic Churches. The Dean of the Seminary, Archbishop Nareg
Alemezian, was also present at this important meeting.
Catholicos Aram I thanked the two Archbishops for their visit, noting that
because of historical reasons, the Armenian community had become ecumenical
with the inclusion of the Catholic and Protestant Churches. "Today," he
said, "it is important that all churches work together to serve the
spiritual and national values of the Armenian people in Armenia and the
Diaspora."
