NAGORNO-KARABAKH INTEGRAL PART OF AZERBAIJAN, AZERI LEADER SAYS

At a reception held in honor of Polish President BronisÅ~Baw
Komorowski, who was on a official visit to Azerbaijan, President of
Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that Nagorno-Karabakh is a historical
and integral part of Azerbaijan, 1news.az reports.
"For centuries has the Azerbaijani people lived and created in this
land. The very word Karabakh has Azerbaijani roots, and all the
monuments and place-names there have Azerbaijani roots," the Azeri
leader claimed.
According to Ilham Aliyev, in the context of international legal norms,
Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan as well.
When Azerbaijan became a UN member, Nagorno-Karabakh was its part. "I
think we have an opportunity to resolve the problem now. International
legal norms must be fully applied. Four UN Security Council resolutions
must be applied, and Azerbaijan's territorial integrity must be
restored," the Azeri leader said.
