Fire Tigran Sargsyan, put your left shoe there, and the government
will operate normally, says the ex-prime minister Hrant Bagratyan in
an interview with the Armenian service of RFE/RL, offering a solution
to the social and economic crisis in Armenia.
Hrant Bagratyan says his proposal is quite serious. When the reporter
asked him to offer a specific solution to the economic crisis in
Armenia, he said, "What I said is very specific, I proposed a very
specific solution."
Bagratyan says the government speaks about growth, meanwhile Armenia
is weak. According him, if Armenia was ranked 89-90 by the GDP per
capita, under Robert Kocharyan Armenia was 110th, now Armenia ranks
140. He says growth reported in Armenia should be compared to growth
in the neighboring countries because they develop several times faster
than Armenia.
"It's a unique government which contracts the economy at peace time,"
he says. Bagratyan notes that in 2011 the state budget is smaller
than in 2010 or 2090. "You will see when the budget is sent to the
parliament. Taking into account growth and inflation, it will be
smaller," he says.
When the reporters asked why he doesn't like Tigran Sargsyan, he said,
"This person is illiterate. Isn't it better to be uneducated and
criminal but to have one's own opinion?"
