Armenia, an impoverish country with so much to work on with their
economics, got a morale boost today as they won the 2011 World Team
    Chess Championship.

Topping the tournament list with 14 points, Armenia's team took the
last round and successfully defended its team.

Today the team made the win a reality, as yesterday they were still
a step away from this achievement. The games in the 9th round saw
Armenia compete with the Ukraine players. The following pairs played
the games against each other, "Vasily Ivanchuk - Levon Aronyan,
Sergey Movsesyan-Pavel Eljanov, Zahar Yefimenko-Vladimir Hakobyan,
Gabriel Sargsyan-Alexander Moysenko," according to Huliq.

The round this morning ended in a 2-2 draw with Armenia and Ukraine.

According to the article, "Armenia made peace with the Ukraine,"
as "all four grandmasters tied their games and made peace with on
another." The much desired win for the small nation of Armenia came
after Armenia's run capped in the tournament.

Chess playing is mandatory as course work in Armenia's schools and
this chosen game of intellect paid off for this country today.

The Armenian team won the match against Israel 3.5O~I0.5 in the
first round. Next in the second round, the U.S national chess team
and Armenia had a draw, 2:2. In the third round Armenia and Russia
tied its game 2O~I2. Here is a link to the remaining rounds.
