Azeri Defense Minister Safar Abiyev hopes Russia will successfully
mediate the Karabakh peace process and a new regional war will be
prevented.
"We thank Russia for taking very active efforts in the promotion of
the Karabakh settlement and the Russian president for organizing
a number of meetings of the Azeri and Armenian presidents within
a short period of time," he told Russian Defense Minister Anatoly
Serdyukov in Baku on Monday.
At the same time, the Karabakh problem has not been resolved.
"Hopefully, the occupied Azeri lands will be freed without the
assistance of our Armed Forces," he said.
Azerbaijan is concerned about Russian arms deliveries to Armenia. "We
are pretty much concerned over that. Hopefully, this problem will be
solved," he said.
