Armenia's demands in the Nagorno Karabakh peace process do not differ
from those of the international community, according to President
Serzh Sargsyan.
"The people in both Karabakh and Armenia have the same demand; they
want the conflict to be resolved in compliance with the norms of
international law. Its principles are set out in the Madrid Principles,
a document proposed to the parties by the [OSCE Minsk Group] co-chairs
representing the United States, France and Russia," the president
told a news conference organized jointly with his Polish counterpart
Bronislav Komorowwski who is currently in Yerevan on an official visit.
"We do not have other demands. Our demands coincide with those of
the international community," Sargsyan added.
Asked about new possibilities for the settlement of the Karabakh
conflict after the recent presidential summit in Kazan, the president
said the developments in Kazan were not unexpected, and he had voiced
his opinion on the issue in his speech at PACE.
} "What I mean is the absence of a relevant atmosphere. It is first
of all that atmosphere that needs to be improved, " he said.
