HRAPARAK: KOCHARYAN TO SET UP POLITICAL PARTY?
Tert.am
28.07.11
The paper says it has learned from political circles that Armenia's
ex-president, Robert Kocharyan, is planning to set up a new political
party in by September.
It comments on the ex president's intention as a move against he
background of the current dialogue between the ruling authorities
and the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC).
The new party will gather together Kocharyan's co-thinkers and will
openly support him; it will also run for parliament, the paper says,
adding that Vardan Oskanyan, a former foreign minister, might become
the leader of the new political force.
The paper further says it asked Oskanyan yesterday whether such
information was true, but the ex minister reportedly denied the report.
Oskanyan appeared to be unaware of Kocharyan's plan to create a
political party, according to the paper.
"You can ask him about that. As to me, I am not going to open [a
party]. You can make no doubt about that," he was quoted as saying.
