Government of Armenia increased the size of the benefit provided to
5.1 thousand families of killed soldiers.
Armenian Social Welfare Minister Artur Grigoryan said that instead
of current 10 thousand drams for each family, the benefit will be 30
thousand drams. Additionally, the benefit for each child will be 20
thousand drams.
In average, benefit for one family was 23.5 thousand drams, for the
family with two children - 38.5 thousand drams. According to the
amendments, basic benefit will be 30 thousand drams and the size of
benefit for the family with two children - 70 thousand drams.
"In the result of the changes the size of benefit for such families
increased by 75%", said Grigoryan.
In total, in 5.1 thousand families of this category 5.8 thousand
children were calculated, the number of which was 1.3 thousand.
Checks detected certain violations, particularly about 4.5 thousand
children were born after 2000. It means that these children were born
after the death of soldier-liberators and are not considered their
children. They are children of close relatives who were registered
in the family of the killed soldiers for increasing the size of
the benefit.
Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan said that by this decision the
government makes its social policy more targeted and increases the
payments from the state budget.
"I would like to ensure the families of the killed soldiers that in
the result of this decision they can get higher financial support
from the State", said Sargsyan.
