Yerevan, 26 July: Armenian MPs Artsvik Minasyan (Dashnaktsutyun)
and Armen Martirosyan (Heritage) were not allowed to make a speech
at the event devoted to the memory of poet Vahan Teryan on 24 July in
the Georgian Samtskhe-Javakheti region, populated mainly by [ethnic]
    Armenians.

Mediamax reports that the MPs said today that employees of the National
Security Service of Georgia and the organizers of the event hindered
    their speech.

"Javakhk is moving along the way of losing national [ethnic Armenian]
features, and the reason for that is the anti-Armenian policy of
the Georgian authorities and the passive stance of Armenia," Artsvik
    Minasyan said.

Armen Martirosyan added that "a really complex situation has been
formed in Javakhetia in terms of preservation of national [ethnic
Armenian] culture and religion" and stated that he is surprised that
the event devoted to the Armenian poet was held in Russian.
