IS THERE A RUSSIAN-TURKISH AGREEMENT AGAIN?

Russian-Turkish relations are improved during the period when Dmitry
Medvedev is the Russian President. Moscow-Ankara cooperation is
widely expanded now and various political, economical, energetic
and military-strategic spheres are included in it. Despite of all
negative historical experience between the two countries, a new
military-political alliance is formulating at the Eastern part of
Europe, which aims to reduce Western influence in Black Sea territory,
Caucasus, Middle Asia and the Middle East. As the two Empires have big
interests, they often perish "less important" issues in the bilateral
political relations. And all these would be ok, if Armenia and its
interests weren't one of such "issues".

It was announced on May 27, in the evening, that the monument of great
Armenian commander, the General of Russian Army Andranik Ozanyan was
removed in Sochi, Volkonk region. The city authorities explained this
removal saying that Turkey might refuse to participate in Olympics
objects constructions in case the monument was remained.

There are two versions for the removal of the monument. The first is
the pressure by the Sochi administration, who have promised Turkey
and Azerbaijan not to allow the monument to be set and the second
version is the pressure by the Armenian Union in Russia, which was
pressed by Kremlin in its turn. In any case the Turkish factor exists.

This reality also was confirmed by the sources well-informed about
the political situation in Russia. This source also makes remarks
while speaking with Times.am that Turkish side makes active lobby
to open "The program of assisting the voluntary resettlement of
the compatriots to Russian Federation" in Armenia. According to the
publications in Armenian media some thousands Armenians have already
left Armenia by this program during the last four years. Armenian
official sources say the number 1508. But if we follow the queues in
front of Russian Embassy in Yerevan and Russian Consulate in Gyumri,
we understand that this number is obviously reduced.

The new era of Russian-Turkish relations can't remain Armenian society
indifferent. Armenians remember well the events of the 20th century,
when 1.5 million Armenians were killed in Turkey. And besides this,
Armenian nation was deprived of the most part of its historical
motherland as a result of the cooperation between V. Lenin and Q.

Ataturk. Today Turkey remains the main danger for Armenian State
system. And Russia is the only Empire, which bridles this danger. So
just because of this it can't be let another Russian-Turkish agreement
    to be formulated.

Russia must realize that the loss of Armenia will mean the loss of
the North Caucasus and maybe the Black Sea shores as well. By the way,
it must be certainly noted, that Turkish funds have financed extremist
movements in Chechnia and Dagestan for already a long time. And besides
this, they decide where the monument of Russian Army General may be
set and where it can't be.
