PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN VISITS NEW PEPSI COLA BOTTLER ARMENIA PLANT

YEREVAN, June 1, / ARKA /. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan visited
today the Pepsi Cola Bottler Armenia plant of the Jermuk International
Company, located in Kanaker-Zeitun administrative district of Yerevan.
The plant will be producing carbonized sweet beverages - Pepsi,
Pepsi-Cola, PepsiLight, PepsiMax, Mirinda, Mirindaorange,
MirindaGreenApple, MountainDew, Aquafina and 7UP.
After the inauguration ceremony built according to modern standards and
equipped with the state of the art production lines, president Sargsyan
toured the premises, familiarized with the capabilities of this plant.
Sergio Paya, PepsiCo East European vice-president, described the
opening of the plant in Armenia as a landmark event saying new jobs
have been created. He said safety and quality of produces is the
priority of the company.
~SWe are happy to have found a reliable partner in Armenia in the
person of Jermuk International. We also thank Yerevan mayor and the
Armenian government for their support,~R he said.
Armenian economy minister Tigran Davtian said the plant is able to
make a major contribution to Armenian economic development, as the
world-famous brand Pepsi started a production in Armenia according
to international standards.
"These events indicate that our economy is not only able to overcome
the crisis, but also move forward" - he said.
The agreement on the establishment of the Armenian plant for production
of soft drinks and natural juices was reached between Jermuk
International.Ltd. and PepsiCoInternational in 2010. According to
the ministry of economy, Jermuk International plans to invest about
5 billion drams (about $ 13.7 million), of which 2.8 billion drams
(about $ 7.7 million) will be spent on purchase of equipment for
the enterprise.
Jermuk International Ltd. was founded in 2006. It imports d Pepsi-Cola,
Mirinda, 7UP, MountainDew, Aqiafina drinks produced by PepsiCo
Georgia.
